HeyGen pricing looks like a monthly fee, but you actually pay in credits.
HeyGen’s Free plan costs nothing. Creator costs $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, and Pro starts at $49. Business costs $149 plus $20 for each extra seat. Enterprise is quoted.
Each plan buys credits, and one minute of Avatar IV video can use 31 of them. So the minutes you get depend on the avatar you pick.
We checked HeyGen’s pricing page and help center, then did the credit math for each plan.
Here’s what each plan costs you, how many minutes it covers, and which one fits your videos.
Key Points
- HeyGen’s plans cost $0 (Free), $29 (Creator), from $49 (Pro) and $149 plus $20 per extra seat (Business) a month. Creator drops to $24 a month billed yearly, and Enterprise is a custom quote.
- Count minutes, not videos. Creator’s 600 credits cover about 150 minutes of Avatar III video but only about 19 minutes of Avatar IV video.
- Pick Business if you need top-ups. Only Business can buy extra credits, at $5 per 100. Creator users have to upgrade, and Pro users move to a higher tier.
- Use credits before you pause or cancel. Pausing wipes your credit balance, and cancelling moves you to Free at the end of the cycle with no credits.
How Much Does HeyGen Cost per Month?
HeyGen costs $0 to $149 a month on its published plans, plus $20 for each extra Business seat. Enterprise has no public price.
| Plan | Monthly price | Credits a month | Longest video | Export quality |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3 videos a month | 1 minute | Watermarked |
| Creator | $29, or $24 billed yearly | 600 | 30 minutes | Up to 1080p |
| Pro | From $49 | 1,000 and up | 30 minutes | Up to 4K |
| Business | $149 plus $20 per extra seat | 1,500 | 60 minutes | Up to 4K |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Set to usage | No maximum | Up to 4K |
Pro is a ladder, not one price. The $49 tier includes 1,000 credits, and the top tier includes 100,000 credits for $4,300 a month. Every Pro tier has the same features.
Example: Creator billed monthly costs $29 × 12 = $348 a year. Billed yearly at $24 a month, it costs $288, so annual billing saves $60.
Top Tip: Check the credit cost shown before you render. HeyGen’s help center says some accounts see different rates, and the number on screen is the one you pay.

What Does the HeyGen Free Plan Include?
The HeyGen Free plan includes 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute long, with a HeyGen watermark. It never expires and needs no card.
You also get one custom avatar, 500+ stock presenters, 30+ languages and a short trial of Avatar IV and Video Agent. That’s enough to see how HeyGen handles your script and your voice.
The limits show up fast. One minute is too short for most explainers, and the watermark rules out client work. Anam reports that Free videos export as a 720p share link.
Say you’re testing an AI presenter for a product update. Free lets you make three short drafts, but you’ll need Creator before anything goes on your site.
The Free plan also has no credits, so you can’t try longer formats or dubbing at scale. So treat Free as a test drive. Write your real script, render one minute, and judge the voice and lip sync before you pay.
Pricing: $0, with no time limit.
Best For
- Anyone testing HeyGen’s avatars and voices before paying.
Pros
- No cost and no card needed.
- One custom avatar included.
- A short trial of Avatar IV and Video Agent.
Cons
- Only 3 videos a month, 1 minute each.
- Every video carries a HeyGen watermark.
- No credits to spend on longer projects.
What Does the HeyGen Creator Plan Include?
The HeyGen Creator plan includes 600 credits a month, videos up to 30 minutes and exports up to 1080p, with no watermark. It costs $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly.
Creator opens up Avatar III and Avatar IV, limited Avatar V, 175+ languages and HeyGen Voice with up to 10 hours of text to speech. It also removes HeyGen branding from your videos.
The 600 credits are the real limit. On Avatar IV with a video look, that’s about 19 minutes a month. On Avatar III with a video look, it’s about 150 minutes.
There’s no way to top up. HeyGen’s help center says Creator users can’t buy one-time credit packs and have to upgrade to Pro for more.
Unused credits roll over for one extra month on monthly billing. On yearly billing, they build up until your renewal date.
Pricing: $29 a month billed monthly, or $24 a month billed yearly.
Best For
- Solo creators who make a few short avatar videos each month.
Pros
- No watermark and up to 30-minute videos.
- 175+ languages and up to 10 hours of text to speech.
- Credits roll over for a month.
Cons
- Only about 19 minutes of Avatar IV video a month.
- No top-ups without upgrading.
- Exports stop at 1080p.
What Does the HeyGen Pro Plan Include?
The HeyGen Pro plan includes 1,000 credits a month at its $49 entry tier, plus 4K export and translation script editing. Higher tiers add credits, up to 100,000 credits for $4,300 a month.
Pro also adds Cinematic Avatars, Avatar V with first access to new models, and 16+ hours of text to speech. Every Pro tier has the same features, so you only pay more for credits.
At the entry tier, 1,000 credits cover about 32 minutes of Avatar IV video with a video look, or about 250 minutes of Avatar III.
Pro has no one-time packs either. If you run out mid-month, you move up to a bigger Pro tier rather than buying a small top-up.
Anam lists Pro at about $41 a month billed yearly, but HeyGen’s own page doesn’t show an annual Pro price. Check the checkout screen before you commit.
Pricing: From $49 a month, rising with the credit tier you choose.
Best For
- Marketers who need 4K exports and more than 20 minutes of Avatar IV video a month.
Pros
- 4K export and Cinematic Avatars.
- Credit tiers that scale with your output.
- Translation script editing for dubbed videos.
Cons
- No small top-ups, only bigger tiers.
- One seat, so no shared team workspace.
- Annual pricing isn’t shown on HeyGen’s page.
What Does the HeyGen Business Plan Include?
The HeyGen Business plan includes 1,500 credits a month, videos up to 60 minutes and 4K export with upscaling. It costs $149 a month plus $20 for each extra seat.
Business adds a shared workspace, centralized billing and a brand kit. It also adds SAML single sign-on and SCORM export for training tools and LMS courses. You get integrations with n8n, Make, HubSpot and Zapier, plus twice the render concurrency of Pro.
It’s the only plan with top-ups. You can buy 100 credits for $5, or turn on auto-reload so videos don’t stall mid-project.
Business is also the plan for teams that render at the same time, since jobs queue less often. If you automate video jobs, our guide to n8n pricing shows what the workflow side costs.
Example: A 5-person team pays $149 + (4 × $20) = $229 a month on Business, or $2,748 a year on monthly billing. Adding 1,000 top-up credits a month costs another $50.
Pricing: $149 a month plus $20 per extra seat.
Best For
- Teams that share avatars, brand assets and training videos.
Pros
- The only plan with credit top-ups.
- SSO, SCORM export and a brand kit.
- Videos up to 60 minutes.
Cons
- $20 for every extra seat.
- 1,500 credits run out quickly on Avatar IV.
- Annual pricing isn’t shown on HeyGen’s page.
What Does the HeyGen Enterprise Plan Include?
The HeyGen Enterprise plan has no public price. You request a quote, and credits are set to your usage.
Enterprise removes the video length limit and includes 10+ custom avatars and 3+ seats. It adds central control across several workspaces, SCIM provisioning, team multi-factor authentication and a dedicated customer success manager.
You also get priority support, custom terms and invoice billing. A custom studio avatar shoot is available as an add-on, for teams that want a filmed presenter instead of one made from a phone recording.
Most small teams won’t need it. It earns its price when IT requires SCIM, several departments share HeyGen, or you need invoices instead of card billing.
Before the sales call, count three things: seats, minutes of avatar video a month, and languages you’ll dub into. Those drive the quote more than the feature list. Ask whether unused credits roll over on your contract, since the public rollover rules cover the self-serve plans.
Pricing: Custom quote from HeyGen’s sales team.
Best For
- Large organizations with several teams, security reviews or invoice billing.
Pros
- No video length limit.
- SCIM provisioning and multi-workspace control.
- A dedicated customer success manager.
Cons
- No published price to budget around.
- Buying goes through a sales process.
- More than most small teams will use.
How Do HeyGen Credits Work?
HeyGen credits work as one shared currency. Every avatar video, translation, generated image and Video Agent job draws from the same monthly balance.
The rate depends on the avatar model and the look you choose:
| What you make | Credits per minute |
|---|---|
| Avatar III, video look | 4 |
| Avatar III, photo look | 7 |
| Avatar IV, photo look | 16 |
| Avatar IV, video look | 31 |
| Avatar V | 48 |
| Video translation without lip sync | 4 |
| Video translation with lip sync | 6 to 10 |
| Video Agent | 80 to 240 |
Every re-render costs the full amount again. Arcade notes this as a hidden cost, so check the script before you render.
Example: Dubbing a 10-minute video into 3 languages with speed-mode lip sync uses 10 × 3 × 6 = 180 credits. That’s almost a third of Creator’s monthly allowance.
Sources: HeyGen help center on credits, Arcade on HeyGen pricing.
How Many Minutes of Video Does Each HeyGen Plan Give You?
Each HeyGen plan gives you about 19 to 48 minutes of Avatar IV video a month, or 150 to 375 minutes of Avatar III. We divided each plan’s credits by HeyGen’s per-minute rates.
| Plan (credits) | Avatar III, video look | Avatar IV, photo look | Avatar IV, video look | Avatar V |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Creator (600) | About 150 minutes | About 37 minutes | About 19 minutes | About 12 minutes |
| Pro entry (1,000) | About 250 minutes | About 62 minutes | About 32 minutes | About 20 minutes |
| Business (1,500) | About 375 minutes | About 93 minutes | About 48 minutes | About 31 minutes |

That’s the gap users notice. One Trustpilot reviewer put it bluntly: “your credits are not enough so you have to pay more.”
The fix is to match the avatar to the job. Use Avatar III for internal training and updates, and save Avatar IV or Avatar V for videos your customers will see.
If you need more Avatar IV minutes on Creator, compare the next Pro tier with Business. Business costs more, but its $5 top-ups let you buy only what you use.
What Does a 5-Person Team Pay for HeyGen per Year?
A 5-person team pays $1,440 to $2,940 a year for HeyGen, depending on whether everyone gets their own plan or you share one Business workspace. We calculated each setup from the published prices.
| Setup for 5 people | Yearly cost | Credits a month in total |
|---|---|---|
| 5 Creator plans, billed yearly | $1,440 | 3,000 |
| 5 Creator plans, billed monthly | $1,740 | 3,000 |
| 1 Business workspace, 5 seats | $2,748 | 1,500 |
| 5 Pro plans, entry tier | $2,940 | 5,000 |

Separate Creator plans look cheaper and include more credits. But each person works alone, with no shared brand kit, avatars or billing.
Example: Five Creator plans billed yearly cost $24 × 5 × 12 = $1,440. One Business workspace costs $149 + $80 = $229 a month, or $2,748 a year. That’s $1,308 more for shared tools and fewer credits.
So pick Business for collaboration and SSO, not for minutes. If your team mostly works solo, separate Creator or Pro plans give more video for less.
What Happens to HeyGen Credits When You Pause or Cancel?
HeyGen credits don’t survive a pause or a cancellation, so use them first. The help center says pausing “expires your credit balance entirely”.
A pause delays your next charge by one billing cycle, usually 30 days, and you can unpause early. During that time your account moves to the Free plan, and paid features are off until the pause ends.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep paid features until the end of the cycle you paid for, then move to Free, and unused credits expire.
Your rendered videos stay in your projects, so you can still download them on Free. Extra avatars are locked, not deleted, so they come back if you subscribe again.
If you pay through the iPhone or Android app, cancel in the app store, since deleting the app doesn’t stop billing. Refunds are limited. The help center says web purchases are generally refundable within 15 days, and HeyGen doesn’t give prorated refunds for unused time. For a refund request, you contact HeyGen support.
Top Tip: Plan big renders for the last week of your billing cycle before you cancel or pause. That way, no credits go to waste, and nothing you paid for expires unused.
How Does HeyGen Pricing Compare With Synthesia, Colossyan and D-ID?
HeyGen pricing sits in the middle for entry plans. Creator matches Synthesia’s Starter price, but Synthesia measures plans in minutes rather than credits.
| Tool | Entry paid plan, a month | What it includes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| HeyGen | $29 (Creator) | 600 credits, videos up to 30 minutes | Creators who want many avatar and voice options |
| Synthesia | $29 (Starter) | 10 minutes of video | Teams that want simple minute-based limits |
| Colossyan | $27 | Not compared here | Training teams on a budget |
| D-ID | $5.99 (Lite) | Watermarked videos | Testing talking-photo videos cheaply |
Synthesia prices come from Arcade’s Synthesia pricing guide, and Colossyan and D-ID prices from Anam’s HeyGen pricing guide. Check each vendor’s own page before you buy. The Best for column is our read.
For editing rather than avatars, our CapCut pricing guide covers a cheaper video tool. To plan who makes which video and when, Onethread, our own tool, covers tasks, timelines and approvals in one place.
Which HeyGen Pricing Plan Should You Pick?
Pick the HeyGen plan whose credits cover your monthly minutes on the avatar you’ll actually use. We’d decide in this order:
- Testing: Free, to judge voice and lip sync on a real script.
- Solo creator with short videos: Creator at $29, if 19 minutes of Avatar IV or 150 minutes of Avatar III covers you.
- Marketer who needs 4K or more minutes: Pro, at the tier that matches your monthly minutes.
- Team sharing avatars and brand assets: Business at $149 plus $20 per seat, with top-ups when you run short.
- IT needs SCIM or several workspaces: Ask HeyGen’s sales team for Enterprise.
Before you upgrade, log one month of real use: minutes rendered, avatar type, languages and re-renders. Then divide by the per-minute rates in the credit table to see which plan fits. Leave about 20% spare for retakes.
Example: If you render 8 Avatar IV videos of 3 minutes each, that’s 24 minutes × 31 = 744 credits. Creator’s 600 won’t cover it, but Pro’s 1,000 will.
Pay yearly only once that month proves the plan works. Creator saves $60 a year billed yearly, and yearly credits build up until renewal.

What Should You Do Next With HeyGen?
The HeyGen price you pay depends less on the plan than on the avatar you render with. Avatar V burns credits 12 times faster than Avatar III video. So the same Creator plan can cover 12 minutes or 150, and most teams pay more than they planned.
This week, render one real script on Free and note the credit cost shown before rendering. Multiply it by your monthly video count, then pick the plan whose credits cover that number with room for re-renders. Revisit the choice after your first full month.
FAQs
Does HeyGen Offer Refunds?
Yes, within limits. HeyGen pricing for web purchases is generally refundable within 15 days, according to its help center. Cancelling stops future charges but doesn’t refund past ones, and unused months on an annual plan aren’t refunded automatically. Purchases through the Apple or Google app stores follow those stores’ refund rules.
Do HeyGen Credits Roll Over?
Yes, for a limited time. On monthly billing, unused credits roll over for one extra billing cycle, so up to about 60 days. On yearly billing, credits build up until your renewal date. Credits expire if you pause, or if you cancel and drop to the Free plan.
Can You Buy Extra HeyGen Credits?
Only on Business. HeyGen pricing lets Business users buy 100 credits for $5 or turn on auto-reload. Creator users can’t buy one-time packs and must upgrade to Pro. Pro users move up to a higher Pro tier with more monthly credits instead of buying a pack.
Is the HeyGen API Included in the Subscription?
No, the HeyGen API is billed separately from the web plans. Anam reports that it works on pay-as-you-go credits starting at $5, and that those credits expire after 12 months. Check HeyGen’s API pricing page for the latest rates before you build on it.
Is the HeyGen Free Plan Good Enough for Business Videos?
No, not for videos you publish. The Free plan allows 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute, and every video carries a HeyGen watermark. It works well for testing avatars and voices, but you need Creator or higher to remove branding and make longer videos.
