Synthesia pricing got cheaper this year, and a little harder to read.
Synthesia’s Basic plan is free. Starter costs $19 a month and Pro $89, or $14 and $59 a month billed yearly. Enterprise is quoted.
The catch is the new credit system. Synthesia renamed Creator to Pro, moved every plan to credits and cut the free plan’s credits by more than half.
We checked Synthesia’s pricing page and help center, then worked out what a minute of video costs you on each plan.
Here’s what each plan includes, what eats your credits, and which plan fits your team.
Key Points
- Synthesia’s plans cost $0 (Basic), $19 (Starter) and $89 (Pro) a month, or $14 and $59 a month billed yearly. Enterprise is a custom quote.
- Budget in video minutes, not credits. Every plan includes 10 minutes of video a month, and a minute of extra avatar video uses about 100 credits.
- Pick Starter for solo video work, since it gives the cheapest minutes. Move to Pro when you need the API, interactive videos or more than about 22 minutes a month.
- Each self-serve plan has one editor. A team that needs several people creating videos pays per editor or moves to Enterprise.
How Much Does Synthesia Cost per Month?
Synthesia costs $0 to $89 a month on its published self-serve plans, billed monthly. Paying yearly drops Starter to $14 a month and Pro to $59.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly (per month) | Credits a month | Video a month (approx.) | Editors |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | Not offered | 500 | 10 minutes | 1 |
| Starter | $19 | $14 | 1,750 | About 22 minutes | 1, plus 3 guests |
| Pro | $89 | $59 | 6,500 | About 70 minutes | 1, plus 5 guests |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom quote | Custom | Unlimited | Custom |
The video column is our estimate. Every plan includes 10 minutes. Synthesia’s pricing page says the extra credits cover up to about 12 more minutes on Starter and about 60 on Pro.
Example: Starter for one editor costs $19 × 12 = $228 a year on monthly billing. Paid yearly, it costs $14 × 12 = $168, so yearly billing saves $60.
Top Tip: Synthesia runs a first-month discount on its paid plans. When we checked, Starter cost $9 and Pro $49 for the first month, so test on monthly billing before you commit to a year.

What Does the Synthesia Basic Plan Include?
The Synthesia Basic plan includes 10 minutes of video a month, 500 credits and 9 stock AI avatars. It costs nothing and has no time limit.
You can write a script, pick an avatar and share the result as a link. Basic also includes templates, three survey responses a month and AI Dubbing for up to 10 minutes.
The limits show up when you try to use the video. Basic videos carry a Synthesia watermark, and you can’t download them. That rules Basic out for client work, paid ads or a course you sell.
Basic is also monthly only, so there’s no yearly deal on it. The 500 credits reset each month and don’t roll over.
Treat Basic as a test drive. Write one real script, watch how the avatar handles your wording, and decide whether the output is good enough before you pay. Test a dubbed version too, since dubbing draws from the same credit balance on paid plans.
Pricing: $0, with no card needed.
Best For
- Anyone testing Synthesia’s editor and avatars before buying a paid plan.
Pros
- 10 minutes of video a month at no cost.
- AI Dubbing and templates included.
- No time limit on the plan.
Cons
- Watermark on every video.
- No video downloads, only share links.
- Only 9 stock avatars.
What Does the Synthesia Starter Plan Include?
The Synthesia Starter plan includes video downloads, logo removal and 1,750 credits a month. It costs $19 a month, or $14 a month billed yearly.
Starter opens up 125+ stock AI avatars and 3 personal avatars, which are avatars built from a recording of you. You also get the AI Video Assistant, chat and email support, and room for 3 guests who can view and comment.
On video, you keep the 10 included minutes and get 1,250 extra credits, which Synthesia says covers up to about 12 more minutes. That’s roughly 22 minutes of finished video a month.
That makes Starter the cheapest place to buy minutes. Paid yearly, it works out to about $0.64 a minute if you use the full allowance.
The limit is people. Starter has one editor seat, so a second person who needs to build videos needs a second plan.
Pricing: $19 a month, or $14 a month billed yearly.
Best For
- Solo creators, trainers and marketers who make a few short videos each month.
Pros
- Downloads with no watermark or logo.
- 125+ stock avatars and 3 personal avatars.
- Lowest cost per video minute of the paid plans.
Cons
- One editor seat only.
- About 22 minutes of video a month.
- No API or interactive videos.
What Does the Synthesia Pro Plan Include?
The Synthesia Pro plan includes 6,500 credits a month, API access, interactive videos and branded video pages. It costs $89 a month, or $59 a month billed yearly. Pro is the plan Synthesia used to call Creator.
Pro raises the stock library to 180+ avatars and personal avatars to 5. It adds priority support and room for 5 guests.
On video, Pro keeps the 10 included minutes and adds 6,000 credits, which Synthesia puts at up to about 60 more minutes. Need more? Pro scales up: 12,000 extra credits cost $176 a month, and 48,000 cost $676.
The API is the main reason teams pick Pro. Synthesia lists up to 360 minutes of API video a year, and each API minute uses 160 credits.
Example: Pro paid monthly costs $89 × 12 = $1,068 a year. Paid yearly, it costs $59 × 12 = $708, a saving of $360.
Pro still has one editor seat, so the minutes are cheaper for a team only if one person builds every video.
Pricing: $89 a month, or $59 a month billed yearly.
Best For
- Teams that make weekly training or product videos and want the API or interactive videos.
Pros
- About 70 minutes of video a month.
- API access, interactive videos and branded pages.
- 180+ stock avatars and 5 personal avatars.
Cons
- One editor seat, like Starter.
- Higher cost per minute than Starter.
- No SCORM export or SAML SSO.
What Does the Synthesia Enterprise Plan Include?
The Synthesia Enterprise plan has no public price. You request a quote from Synthesia’s sales team, and the price depends on your editors, credits and contract terms.
Enterprise removes the video minute cap and adds 240+ stock avatars, unlimited personal avatars and 1-click translation into 140+ languages. Self-serve plans dub into 70+ languages.
It also adds SAML single sign-on (SSO), SCORM export for learning management systems, brand kits, live team collaboration and a dedicated customer success manager.
SCORM export can decide it on its own. If your training team needs to load videos straight into an LMS with completion tracking, Enterprise is the only plan that offers it.
Before the first sales call, count your editors, the minutes you made last quarter and the languages you need. Those three numbers shape the quote more than the feature list does. Ask, too, how unused credits are handled at the contract anniversary, since Enterprise credits are counted per year.
Pricing: Custom quote from Synthesia’s sales team.
Best For
- L&D and communications teams with several editors, many languages and an LMS.
Pros
- Unlimited video minutes.
- SCORM export, SAML SSO and brand kits.
- 1-click translation into 140+ languages.
Cons
- No published price to budget around.
- Buying goes through a sales process.
- More than most solo creators need.
What Changed in Synthesia Pricing This Year?
Synthesia pricing changed in two ways this year: the prices went down and the plans moved to credits.
First, the price. Synthesia’s pricing page now shows “new lower prices”, and Starter fell from $29 to $19 a month on monthly billing. Pro kept its $89 monthly price.
Second, the units. On October 1, 2026, Synthesia renamed Creator to Pro and moved its self-serve plans to credits, according to PricingSaaS. The free Basic plan dropped from 1,200 credits a month to 500, a 58% cut.
Credits now pay for everything that uses compute: extra video minutes, dubbing, survey responses, API video and generated video clips. The 10 included video minutes stay on every plan.
The change helps light users and hurts heavy ones. If you make one or two short videos a month, Starter is cheaper than before. If you dub every video into several languages, credits run out faster than the old minute counts suggested.
Some older guides still quote Starter at $29 and yearly prices of $18 and $64. Check the price on Synthesia’s own page before you buy.
If you signed up before the change, look at your billing page as well. Your plan may still show the Creator name, and your credit balance tells you what you can make before the next reset.
How Do Synthesia Credits Work?
Synthesia credits are one shared balance that pays for extra video and other usage-based features. Every plan includes 500 credits plus 10 minutes of video a month, and paid plans add more credits on top.
Each action has its own credit cost:
| Action | Credits used |
|---|---|
| One minute of extra avatar video | About 100 |
| One minute of AI Dubbing with lip sync | 80 |
| One minute of AI Dubbing without lip sync | 40 |
| One minute of Bulk Personalization | 180 |
| One minute of API video | 160 |
| One survey response | 350 |
Credits reset at the start of each billing period and don’t roll over. On yearly plans, you get the full year’s credits up front: 21,000 on Starter and 78,000 on Pro.
Edits cost credits too. When you change a script and generate the video again, Synthesia recalculates the credits for the new version.
Example: A 5-minute training video uses about 500 credits. Fix the script and render it twice more, and the same video has used about 1,500 credits, most of a Starter month.
If you run out, you can top up from the Billing page or upgrade. Upgrading mid-cycle resets your balance to the new plan’s allowance, so unused credits from the old plan are lost.

How Much Does a Minute of Synthesia Video Cost?
A minute of Synthesia video costs about $0.64 to $1.27 on the self-serve plans, if you use the whole allowance. We divided each plan’s price by its approximate monthly minutes.

| Plan and billing | Price a month | Video a month (approx.) | Cost per minute (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter, billed yearly | $14 | 22 minutes | $0.64 |
| Starter, billed monthly | $19 | 22 minutes | $0.86 |
| Pro, billed yearly | $59 | 70 minutes | $0.84 |
| Pro, billed monthly | $89 | 70 minutes | $1.27 |
Example: Starter billed yearly works out to $14 ÷ 22 minutes, or about $0.64 a minute. Pro billed monthly works out to $89 ÷ 70 minutes, or about $1.27.
These figures assume you use every credit on avatar video. Dubbing, re-renders and survey responses draw from the same balance, so your real cost per finished minute is higher.
Unused minutes also cost you. A Pro user who makes 20 minutes of video in a month still pays $89, which is about $4.45 a minute.
What Does Synthesia Cost a Team per Year?
A Synthesia team pays $168 to $2,124 a year on self-serve plans, depending on the plan, billing cycle and number of editors. We calculated each case from the published prices.
| Setup | Yearly cost |
|---|---|
| 1 editor on Starter, billed yearly | $168 |
| 1 editor on Starter, billed monthly | $228 |
| 1 editor on Pro, billed yearly | $708 |
| 1 editor on Pro, billed monthly | $1,068 |
| 1 editor on Pro with 12,000 extra credits, billed monthly | $2,112 |
| 3 editors on Pro, billed yearly | $2,124 |

Each self-serve plan comes with one editor. Extra editor seats sit on Enterprise, according to v4v’s pricing review, so three people who all build videos need three plans or an Enterprise quote.
Example: Three editors on Pro billed yearly cost 3 × $708 = $2,124 a year. Three editors on Starter cost 3 × $168 = $504, if 22 minutes each a month is enough.
A personal avatar from Synthesia’s studio adds more. The Studio Express-1 avatar costs $1,000 a year and is only available on yearly plans.
How Does Synthesia Pricing Compare With HeyGen and Colossyan?
Synthesia pricing now has the cheapest first paid plan of the three AI video tools, at $19 a month. HeyGen and Colossyan start higher on monthly billing.
| Tool | First paid plan, billed monthly | Billed yearly (per month) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Synthesia | $19 (Starter) | $14 | Training and explainer videos with stock avatars |
| HeyGen | $29 (Creator) | $24 | Marketing videos, voice cloning and longer videos |
| Colossyan | $27 (Starter) | $19 | Workplace training with team editing |
HeyGen prices come from Omid Saffari’s Synthesia pricing breakdown, and Colossyan prices from PricingSaaS. Check each vendor’s own page before you buy. The Best for column is our read.
For a deeper look at HeyGen’s plans, see our guide to HeyGen pricing. If you edit short social videos rather than avatar videos, our CapCut pricing guide covers a cheaper option.

Which Synthesia Pricing Plan Should You Pick?
Pick the cheapest Synthesia plan that covers your monthly minutes, then move up only for features like the API or SCORM. We’d decide in this order:
- Testing the tool: Basic, until you need downloads or more than 10 minutes.
- One person, a few short videos a month: Starter at $19, or $14 billed yearly.
- Weekly videos, API or interactive videos: Pro at $89, or $59 billed yearly.
- More than about 70 minutes a month on one seat: Pro with a larger credit tier.
- Several editors, an LMS or 140+ languages: Ask Synthesia’s sales team for Enterprise.
Track your minutes for one month before you choose a yearly plan. Credits don’t roll over, so paying for 70 minutes when you make 20 is an easy way to overspend.
Count the people too. If two or more colleagues need to build videos, price each editor’s plan side by side with an Enterprise quote before you decide.
Video is usually one part of a bigger project. Do you plan training rollouts or campaigns around these videos? Our roundup of project management software for small teams covers tools to keep that work on schedule. Onethread, our own tool, keeps the tasks, timelines and discussions around video projects in one place.
What Should You Do Next With Synthesia?
The Synthesia price you pay depends less on the plan than on how many minutes you use and how often you re-render. Since the move to credits, Starter is cheap for light use. Pro only pays off when you fill most of its 70 minutes or need its API, interactive videos and branded pages.
This week, count the minutes of finished video you made last month and how many times you re-rendered. Match that to the plan whose allowance fits, start on monthly billing, and switch to yearly once your usage settles.
FAQs
Is Synthesia Free?
Yes, Synthesia pricing includes a free Basic plan with 10 minutes of video and 500 credits a month. Basic videos carry a watermark and can only be shared as links, not downloaded. It suits testing the editor, but not client or paid work.
Do Synthesia Credits Roll Over?
No, Synthesia credits reset at the start of each billing period and unused credits are lost. Yearly plans get the full year’s credits up front, so they last the whole year. Upgrading mid-cycle also resets your balance to the new plan’s allowance, with no carry-over.
Can You Cancel Synthesia at Any Time?
Yes, Synthesia’s pricing page lists Starter as “cancel anytime” and says you can scale Pro up or down at any time. On monthly billing, you avoid a year’s commitment. Check the yearly plan terms before you sign, because yearly billing commits you for twelve months.
Does Synthesia Have an API?
Yes, the Synthesia API comes with the Pro plan and above. Pro lists up to 360 minutes of API video a year, and each API minute uses 160 credits from your balance. Starter and Basic don’t include API access, so automated video needs Pro or Enterprise.
How Many People Can Use One Synthesia Plan?
Each self-serve Synthesia plan includes one editor. Starter adds 3 guests and Pro adds 5, and guests can view and comment but not build videos. Under Synthesia pricing, a team with several editors needs a plan per editor or an Enterprise quote.
