Zendesk’s price list fits on one screen. The bill rarely does.
Zendesk pricing starts at $19 per agent a month for Support Team, then $55 for Suite Team and $115 for Suite Professional, billed yearly. Monthly billing costs $25, $69 and $149. Suite Enterprise has no public price, so you get a quote from sales.
Then come the extras. Copilot adds $50 an agent, and each AI resolution past your allowance costs $1.50 to $2.00.
Our research covered Zendesk’s pricing pages, its help center rules for AI billing, and five top-ranking pricing guides.
You’ll get every plan, the AI math, and what a 10-agent team pays in a year.
Key Points
- Zendesk charges $19 (Support Team), $55 (Suite Team) and $115 (Suite Professional) per agent a month on yearly billing. Monthly billing costs $25, $69 and $149, so paying yearly saves about 20%. Suite Enterprise has no public price.
- Every plan includes AI agents, but you pay for each automated resolution past your allowance. The allowance is 5 per agent a month on Support Team and Suite Team, and 10 on Suite Professional. Extra resolutions cost $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay as you go.
- A 10-agent team pays $6,600 a year on Suite Team and $13,800 on Suite Professional. Add Copilot to Suite Professional and the bill climbs to $19,800.
- Pick Suite Team for chat, social and phone in one place. Move to Suite Professional only when you need SLAs, skills-based routing, light agents or Copilot.
How Much Does Zendesk Cost Per Agent?
Zendesk costs $19 to $115 per agent a month on yearly billing, and $25 to $149 on monthly billing. Each seat is one agent who answers tickets.
| Plan | Yearly billing (per agent a month) | Monthly billing (per agent a month) | AI resolutions included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Support Team | $19 | $25 | 5 per agent a month | Email-only support |
| Suite Team | $55 | $69 | 5 per agent a month | Small teams adding chat and phone |
| Suite Professional | $115 | $149 | 10 per agent a month | Teams that need SLAs and routing rules |
| Suite Enterprise + Copilot | Custom quote | Custom quote | Not published | Large teams with security and governance needs |
The Best for labels are our own read of each plan. Prices come from Zendesk’s pricing page, where the billing toggle reads “20% off annual”.
Suite Enterprise is now sales only. Third-party trackers such as Desk365 note it used to list at about $169 per agent a month. Treat that as a floor for your first quote, not a promise.
Top Tip: Zendesk shows yearly prices by default. Flip the toggle to Monthly before you build a budget, or your first invoice will run about 25% over plan.

What Does Zendesk Support Team Include?
Support Team is Zendesk’s entry plan. It’s email ticketing for teams that have outgrown a shared inbox.
You get ticket routing, prebuilt dashboards, macros for common replies, and triggers that run rules for you. AI agents for email come included, with 5 automated resolutions per agent a month.
What it leaves out matters more. Support Team skips social channels, voice, business hours and the knowledge base builder. AI agents for messaging need a messaging channel, so they sit idle here.
Say you run a five-person team that answers order emails. Support Team covers that for $1,140 a year. But the day customers want chat, you’re looking at Suite Team.
Support Team also includes customer context in the agent view, so each reply shows past tickets from that person. For a small email queue, that’s most of what you need.
Pricing: $19 per agent a month billed yearly, or $25 billed monthly.
Best For
- Small teams that handle support by email only.
- Founders testing a real ticket system before they hire more agents.
Pros
- Lowest Zendesk entry price at $19 an agent.
- AI agents for email and 5 included resolutions per agent a month.
- Triggers, automations and macros work out of the box.
Cons
- No social channels, voice or knowledge base builder.
- No business hours or SLA rules.
- Moving to Suite Team nearly triples the seat price.
What Does Zendesk Suite Team Include?
Suite Team adds the channels. It bundles messaging and live chat, social apps such as WhatsApp and Instagram, voice with call recording, and a help center.
The help center comes with a knowledge builder that drafts articles from your ticket history. Action Builder handles custom workflows, with up to 40,000 actions a month.
The limits show up as you grow. You get one help center in one language, two chat departments, and no skills-based routing or SLAs. Phone numbers and call minutes cost extra.
Picture a ten-person shop that gets chat questions at checkout and a few calls a day. Suite Team puts both in one inbox for $6,600 a year. That’s the plan most small teams land on first.
One more thing to know: Suite Team adds light agents only as a paid add-on. If other staff need to read tickets, that cost shows up fast.
Pricing: $55 per agent a month billed yearly, or $69 billed monthly.
Best For
- Small teams that answer email, chat, social and phone in one place.
Pros
- Messaging, live chat, social channels and voice in one plan.
- AI agents work across email and messaging.
- Help center with a knowledge builder included.
Cons
- One help center and one default language.
- No SLAs or skills-based routing.
- Phone numbers, minutes and text messages are add-ons.
- The Copilot add-on isn’t sold on this plan.
What Does Zendesk Suite Professional Include?
Suite Professional is the plan Zendesk labels most popular. It adds the controls bigger teams need: SLAs, skills-based routing, IVR phone trees and customer satisfaction surveys.
It also doubles the AI allowance to 10 resolutions per agent a month. And it includes up to 100 light agents, who can view and comment on tickets without a paid seat.
Light agents change the math. Say eight engineers need to add notes to bug tickets. On Suite Professional they cost nothing extra.
You also get up to five help centers in 40+ languages, custom reports, and dashboards that refresh every hour. One catch: the built-in Copilot writing tools give each agent 5 uses a month, pooled and capped at 500.
Pricing: $115 per agent a month billed yearly, or $149 billed monthly.
Best For
- Teams of 10 or more that need SLAs and routing rules.
- Companies that run several brands or languages.
Pros
- SLAs, skills-based routing and IVR phone trees.
- Up to 100 light agents at no extra cost.
- Twice the AI resolution allowance of Suite Team.
- Up to five help centers in 40+ languages.
Cons
- More than double the Suite Team seat price.
- Full Copilot still costs $50 an agent on top.
- Sandbox testing is an add-on.
What Does Zendesk Suite Enterprise Cost?
Zendesk doesn’t publish a price for Suite Enterprise + Copilot. You talk to sales and get a quote.
The plan adds intelligent triage, which classifies every ticket by what the customer needs. It also includes Auto Assist, generative AI for voice, approval workflows, a sandbox and custom agent roles.
Copilot features such as Auto Assist come with the plan, so you skip the $50 add-on. That alone narrows the gap with Suite Professional plus Copilot, which runs $165 an agent a month on yearly billing.
Enterprise makes sense when governance drives the purchase. Think custom roles for 200 agents, or a sandbox to test changes before they reach customers.
Ask sales three things: the seat price, the AI resolution allowance, and whether year-one resolution charges are capped. Get all three in writing before you compare the quote with Suite Professional.
And don’t assume the old list price still holds. Enterprise deals are priced per account, so two teams of the same size can pay different rates.
Pricing: Custom quote through Zendesk sales.
Best For
- Large teams with strict security, audit or approval needs.
Pros
- Copilot included in the plan.
- Sandbox, custom roles and approval workflows.
- Intelligent triage and Auto Assist for every agent.
Cons
- No public price, so you can’t compare before a sales call.
- AI resolution allowance isn’t published.
- Hard to justify for small teams without governance needs.
How Do Zendesk AI Resolution Fees Work?
Zendesk bills its AI agents per automated resolution. A resolution counts only when the AI agent solves a request with no human handoff. Each plan includes a monthly allowance, and you pay for every resolution past it. That makes the AI line the one part of the bill that moves.

Included Resolutions Per Agent
Support Team and Suite Team include 5 resolutions per agent a month. Suite Professional includes 10. Zendesk caps the free allowance at 10,000 a year.
Past the allowance, you pick a payment style. Committed resolutions cost $1.50 each, bought ahead. Pay-as-you-go resolutions cost $2.00 each.
Example: A 10-agent Suite Team gets 50 free resolutions a month. If the AI agent resolves 400 requests, you pay for 350: 350 x $1.50 = $525 committed, or $700 pay as you go.
That’s about the same as the $550 you already pay for the ten seats. Good AI can double the bill.
Resolution Tiers Decide What Bills
Zendesk sorts every AI conversation into one of three tiers. An assisted escalation means the AI helped, but a human finished the job. A contained resolution means the AI finished, but a language model check failed.
Neither of those counts against your allowance. Only a verified resolution does: the AI solved it, the customer didn’t ask for more, and the check passed.
Timing matters too. An email conversation closes 72 hours after the first email. Messaging closes after 2 hours by default, and a call closes at hang-up.
So a reply that sends the customer back an hour later doesn’t bill. A quiet customer does.
Which Zendesk Add-Ons Raise the Bill?
Zendesk add-ons charge per agent, so they scale with your seat count. These are the ones listed on Zendesk’s pricing pages.
| Add-on | Price per agent a month (yearly) | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Copilot | $50 | Auto Assist, suggested replies and full writing tools |
| Quality Assurance | $35 | Automatic review of every conversation |
| Workforce Engagement Bundle | $50 | Quality Assurance plus workforce management |
| Advanced Data Privacy and Protection | $50 | Extra data protection controls |
| Contact Center | $83 | Complex inbound and outbound calling |
Usage costs sit on top. Phone numbers, call minutes and text messages bill separately. Extra Action Builder credits cost $200 per 100,000 actions.
Light agents on Suite Team are an add-on too, and Zendesk doesn’t print that price on its pricing page. Ask for it if non-agents need ticket access.
Example: Ten agents on Suite Professional with Copilot and the Workforce Engagement Bundle pay $215 each a month. That’s $215 x 10 x 12 = $25,800 a year, or 87% more than the $13,800 base.
Users notice. One Capterra reviewer quoted by eesel wrote that “Pricing is a bit of a con”, mostly over add-on setup.
Top Tip: Copilot isn’t sold on Suite Team. If your agents need AI reply drafts, price Suite Professional plus Copilot at $165 an agent before you sign.
How Does Zendesk Employee Service Pricing Work?
Zendesk sells a separate Employee Service Suite for internal IT and HR help desks. It uses different plans and lower prices than the customer service line.
| Plan | Yearly billing (per agent a month) | Monthly billing (per agent a month) |
|---|---|---|
| Suite Team | $29 | $39 |
| Suite Growth | $59 | $79 |
| Suite Professional | $99 | $125 |
| Suite Enterprise + Copilot | Custom quote | Custom quote |
Suite Growth is where IT teams usually start. It adds IT asset management, a service catalog, an employee portal, tasks and approvals, and SLAs.
Don’t mix the two lines up when you compare quotes. A $29 Suite Team seat on the employee side isn’t the $55 Suite Team seat on the customer side.
What Does a Zendesk Team Pay in a Year?
A 10-agent team pays $2,280 to $19,800 a year, depending on the plan and Copilot. These totals use yearly billing and leave out AI overages and phone usage.
| Agents | Support Team | Suite Team | Suite Professional | Suite Professional + Copilot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $1,140 | $3,300 | $6,900 | $9,900 |
| 10 | $2,280 | $6,600 | $13,800 | $19,800 |
| 25 | $5,700 | $16,500 | $34,500 | $49,500 |

Monthly billing widens every gap. Ten Suite Professional agents on monthly billing pay $149 x 10 x 12 = $17,880 a year.
Example: That’s $4,080 more than the $13,800 yearly price, for the same seats. You’re paying for the right to cancel.
The jump from Suite Team to Suite Professional is the big one. At 10 agents it adds $7,200 a year, so make sure you’ll use SLAs and routing.
Then add AI. In the earlier example, 350 extra resolutions a month at $1.50 cost $6,300 a year. That nearly doubles the $6,600 seat bill for a 10-agent Suite Team. Busy AI agents belong in the budget from day one, not as a surprise in month three.
Which Zendesk Pricing Plan Fits Your Team?
The right Zendesk plan depends on your channels and your rules, not your headcount. Match your situation to a row.
| If this sounds like you | Pick this plan |
|---|---|
| You answer customers by email only | Support Team |
| You need chat, social and phone in one inbox | Suite Team |
| You need SLAs, skills-based routing or several brands | Suite Professional |
| Many non-agents need to comment on tickets | Suite Professional (light agents) |
| You need a sandbox, custom roles or approval workflows | Suite Enterprise |
| You run an internal IT or HR help desk | Employee Service Suite |
If none of these fits the budget, our list of Zendesk alternatives compares cheaper tools. Our guide to helpdesk software covers the wider field.
And if most of your “tickets” are client requests tied to projects, a help desk may be the wrong tool. Client management software keeps those requests next to the work.
How Can You Lower Your Zendesk Bill?
You can cut a Zendesk bill by 20% or more without dropping a plan. Five checks help most teams:
- Pay yearly: Yearly billing saves about 20%. On 10 Suite Professional agents, that’s $4,080 a year.
- Use light agents: Suite Professional includes up to 100. Five occasional helpers on full seats would cost $6,900 a year.
- Commit to resolutions: Committed resolutions cost $1.50, not $2.00. That’s 25% off every overage.
- Read the tier report: Only verified resolutions draw down. Check monthly which conversations billed and why.
- Negotiate at volume: Desk365 reports that volume pricing opens around 25 seats, and renewals can carry a 5% to 7% increase.
Ask about a year-one cap, too. Zendesk often caps resolution charges early. CEO Tom Eggemeier described it to Verdict: “We kind of cap it so that people have a little more predictability.”
He has also said AI agents should be “held to the same high standards of accountability as any human.” Hold the bill to the same standard. Not every user is convinced: one Reddit user called automated resolutions “a rip off”.
Top Tip: Get any year-one resolution cap written into the order form. A verbal promise won’t show up on the invoice.

What Should You Do Next With Zendesk?
Zendesk’s seat prices are clear: $19 to $115 an agent on yearly billing. The real bill depends on three things you control. Those are the plan you pick, the add-ons you stack, and how many verified resolutions your AI agent racks up past the allowance.
This week, count your agents and your light helpers, then estimate monthly AI resolutions. Run those numbers through the team cost table and add your overage. You’ll know your yearly bill before a sales rep calls you, and that’s the best place to negotiate from.
FAQs
Is Zendesk Free to Use?
No, Zendesk has no free plan. Zendesk pricing starts at $19 per agent a month for Support Team on yearly billing. You can test it with a 14-day free trial, which opens Suite Professional with Copilot turned on by default. To try a different plan, you need to contact Zendesk.
Does Zendesk Offer a Startup Discount?
Yes. Zendesk runs a startups program that gives early-stage startups a 6-month trial of the Zendesk Suite for up to 50 agents. You apply through the startups page on Zendesk’s pricing site. Zendesk doesn’t publish what you pay once those six months end, so ask before you build on it.
What Payment Methods Does Zendesk Accept?
Zendesk takes credit and debit cards, PayPal, and bank direct debit for online purchases. It bills in US dollars, euros, British pounds and Brazilian reais. Larger sales-led deals can move to invoice billing, depending on eligibility. Contracts run month to month, yearly or for several years.
Why Is Zendesk So Expensive?
Zendesk pricing stacks three meters: a per-agent seat, per-agent add-ons, and per-resolution AI fees. Each one grows with your team or your volume. A 10-agent Suite Professional team with Copilot and the Workforce Engagement Bundle pays $25,800 a year before AI overages. Cheaper help desks usually drop some channels or AI features.
Can You Change Zendesk Plans Mid-Contract?
Yes, you can move up or down a plan. Zendesk says the change may apply right away or at renewal. It depends on your subscription terms, and it can shift what you pay for the rest of the term. If you’re on a yearly contract, ask how a mid-term downgrade affects what you’ve already paid.
